“…It is possible that the incubation temperature (25 ± 1°C) stimulated the development of the sexual stages of A. Candida in leaf callus cultures. Temperatures of 25°C and above favour the production of oospores over that of zoosporangia in A. Candida (Verma et al 1983, Goyal et al 1996 and in A. occidentalis (Raabe & Pound 1952a). Incubation temperatures of 25 and 30°C also favoured the formation of oospores in A. candidainfected B. juncea callus tissues (Lahiri & Bhowmik 1993), although the origin of the oospores was not clear; the hypertrophied inflorescences used as expiants invariably contained abundant oospores.…”
