Influence of blast-furnace process thermal parameters on energy and exergy characteristics and exergy losses

Abstract: SUMMARYThe technology 'blast furnace}converter' dominates at present in the production of steel all over the world. Therefore, the blast-furnace process is continuously being improved, among others, by raising the thermal parameters, such as temperature and oxygen-enrichment of the blast, as well as the addition of auxiliary fuels. The changes in the consumption of coke go together with changes in the consumption of blast, the production of top-gas and its consumption in Cowper stoves, as well as the productio… Show more

“…For the purpose of Exergy and TEC analysis the "input-output" model [7,8] has been applied for prediction of PCI direct effects and zone balance model [14] for simulation of direct effects of top-gas recirculation. The scheme of blast furnace with assumed temperature zones for modelling purposes has been presented in Fig.…”

“…The I-O model let to predict the influence of operational parameters changes x 0 → x 1 on energy characteristic of BF plant including: consumption of coke (K) and blast (D), production of top-gas (G) and its chemical energy (E), as well as, the chemical energy of the top-gas feeding the gas-system (E Z ). Moreover the model of top-gas expansion turbine [7,8,14] let to evaluate the production of electric energy by the recovery turbine of top-gas (E el ). For example the carbon element balance is presented by Eq.…”

“…Costa et al [13] compared the exergetic efficiency of different steel production systems in a more practical way. Nogame et al [14] and Ziebik and Stanek [15,16] focussed in particular on blast furnaces. Finally, the exergetic performance of ladle furnaces during steelmaking has been analysed by Camdali and Tunc [17,18] and by Mapelli and Baragiola [19] .…”
