Influence of Composition of Nickel‐Iron Nanoparticles for Abiotic CO2 Conversion to Early Prebiotic Organics

Abstract: Abiotic synthesis of formate and short hydrocarbons takes place in serpentinizing vents where some members of vent microbial communities live on abiotic formate as their main carbon source. “…To have a further understanding, CO 2 -temperature programmed desorption (CO 2 -TPD) and H 2 -temperature programmed reduction (H 2 -TPR) analyses were performed for zeolite-NaY and SBA-15-supported catalysts, viz., Pd/PdO–Fe 2 O 3 -Y and Pd–Fe 2 O 3 -SBA-15 (Figure S8). From the CO 2 -TPD analysis, a change in the nature of basic sites in the catalysts Pd/PdO–Fe 2 O 3 -Y and Pd–Fe 2 O 3 -SBA-15 was distinguishable. , Zeolite-NaY usually shows desorption of CO 2 at temperatures below 300 °C for weak and medium basic sites .
