Influence of cutting angle on mechanical properties of rock cutting by conical pick based on finite element analysis

Abstract: In view of the current situation that it is difficult to obtain the actual cutting force received by the conical pick of Continuous-Miner and to deal with the characteristics of the cutting force. By using contact dynamics, rock mechanics, and finite element methods, based on the display dynamics analysis program ANSYS/LS-DYNA and the Holmquist-Johnson-Cook model, the contact mechanical characteristics between conical pick and rock are analyzed. The resultant force was obtained by obtaining the force curve of … Show more

“…The latest tools and technologies are used for this aim, such as RFID technology, laser scanning, single-wire energy transfer, wire strain gauges, ultrasonic systems and preliminary estimation [19][20][21]. In addition to bench, experimental [22] and real-conditions testing [23,24], simulation studies and numerical analyses [25][26][27][28] play an increasingly important role. Statistical analyses, data analyses [29] and decision-making procedures are used.…”

“…The European Union's environmental policy does not currently rely on technologies based on energy resources such as coal [21]. On the other hand, the European Union's economy cannot function without coal, as it is the coking material used for producing steel [22]. Therefore, coking coal is on the European Union's list of strategic raw materials [23][24][25].…”

“…Current computer programs make it possible to simulate almost all phenomena and systems. Simulation of flows [24], stability analysis of workings [25], modelling in the field of natural hazards [26] and strength analysis of machines and their components [27] are used in the mining industry, among many others. Numerical studies and simulations also include powered roof support [28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35], which the authors of this work have focused on.…”
