Abstract:Seismic buckling of vessels is one of main concerns for the design of fast reactor plants in Japan. Rational design is important because of two conflicting requirements; thicker walls are preferable to prevent seismic buckling of vessels, while excessively thick walls introduce large thermal stress causing unacceptable creep-fatigue interaction damage. In previous studies, we discussed evaluation methods of seismic buckling probability of vessels by taking account of seismic hazards in order to rationalize sei… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
