Influence of dietary inclusion of phytobiotics on growth performance, carcass and organ weight of broiler chickens

Abstract: This study investigated the dietary inclusion effect of three Phytobiotics: Syzygium aromaticum (Cloves), Piper nigrum (Black pepper) and Tetrapleura tetraptera (Prekese) on performance, carcass traits and organ weight of broile rchickens. Two hundred-day old unsexed broilers were used for the study. The birds were allotted on weight equalization basis to four dietary treatments (T1, T2, T3 and T4) in Completely Randomized Design. Each treatment was replicated five times with 10 birds per replicate. Four exper… Show more

“…It impairs optimal utilization of proteins during metabolism [ 55 ]. A study examined the effect of castor beans oil in a dietary feed formulation on chicks and observed that the final weight of the chicks reduced against the control, while the white blood cell and platelet counts were also affected suggesting the adverse effects of ricinine in castor bean [ 56 ]. The beneficial potential of ricinine could be in its insecticidal properties, where insect populations constitute pests of significant economic value [ 57 ].…”

“…It has been reported [ 13 ] that feeding BP to poultry decreases blood TC. Dietary BP does not consistently affect the growth of broiler chickens, since [ 14 , 15 ] did not find enhanced growth performance, whilst dietary BP reduced the growth performance in other studies [ 16 ] or was found to be dose-dependent [ 13 , 17 ].…”
