Influence of Different Additives on the Clouding Nature and Thermodynamic Behavior of Tween 80 Solution in the Absence and Presence of the Amikacin Sulfate Drug

Abstract: Herein, the cloud-point (CP) measurements of a nonionic surfaceactive agent named Tween 80 [poly(oxyethylene) (20) sorbitanmonooleate; Tw 80] were carried out in this study in the absence and attendance of an amikacin sulfate (AS) drug/(AS+ inorganic electrolyte (NaCl, NaNO 3 and Na 2 SO 4 )). AS drug has been utilized to treat or prevent a wide range of bacterial infections. The measured values of CP in the aqueous phase for Tw 80 were observed in decreasing fashion with an increase in the concentration of su… Show more

“…It is obvious that whole thermodynamics sequences are energetically dominated. Determining CP values for nonionic surfactants were used to determine the various physicochemical quantities such as change of standard free energy ( ∆G 0 c ), change of enthalpy ( ∆H 0 c ), and change of entropy ( ∆S 0 c ) of the clouding taking the solubility limit at the CP via the phase separation model utilizing the succeeding equations italic∆Gc0=italicRT0.25emlnXs, italic∆Hc0=RT20.25em()lnXs/T, italic∆Sitalic0c=()italic∆Hitalic0mitalic∆Gitalic0m/T. The plot of ln X s against T was utilized to determine the ∆H c 0 of clouding. Graph of ln X s against T were observed nonlinear as well as a representative graph is exposed in Figure .…”
