Influence of Endurance tests on Space Charge Distribution of 160kV HVDC XLPE Cable

Abstract: -The ageing of XLPE cable insulation will lead to the accelerating accumulation of space charge, which will greatly affect the safe operation of the HVDC cable. In order to investigate the influence of different ageing modes on the space charge distribution of the HVDC cable, thermal stressed, electrical stressed and electro-thermal stressed endurance tests were carried out on the XLPE peelings. The tested XLPE peelings were obtained from 160kV HVDC cable insulation. The endurance tests were carried at thermal… Show more

“…The tensile test is in accordance with the requirements of ISO 527-2-2012, the width of the middle of the specimen is 10 mm, the gauge is 50 mm, the loading rate is 5 mm/min, the bending test is in accordance with the requirements of ISO 178-2010, the specimen size is 80 mm × 15 mm × 4 mm, the span is 64 mm and the loading rate is 2 mm/min. Ten samples for each type are taken, and the mean value is calculated after removing the maximum and minimum values [ 23 ].…”

“…52,53 Furthermore, the shape factor of the HEPCF was improved a lot aer being lled with PCM1, which can enhance the stability of the insulation breakdown of the nal products. 54,55 On the contrary, the breakdown eld strength of the PVDF-HFP bonded porous microcapsule lm (80% GMPCM2.5) is much lower than that of the HEPCF and pure PVDF-HFP lm (detailed Weibull distribution plots can be found in Fig. S19, ESI †), which mainly originates from the low breakdown strength air voids in the porous structured microcapsule lm.…”

“…However, the tightness between wires and wires, wires and connecting pipes is not high enough, and the mechanical properties are difficult to be guaranteed [6] . Welding technology of cable joint, using the same material as the cable body through heating and welding technology, restores the functional layers of the cable layer by layer, which can restore the structure of the cable body [7][8] . The requirements of waterproof, moisture-proof, mechanical and electrical properties of cables have been effectively solved [9] , but due to the high cost of welding technology and long construction time, it has not been widely used in power grid [10][11][12] .…”
