Influence of F-Doped β-PbO2Conductive Ceramic Layer on the Anodic Behavior of 3D Al/Sn Rod Pb−0.75%Ag for Zinc Electrowinning

Abstract: In this study, a 3D Al/Sn rod Pb−0.75%Ag anode was prepared by continuous extrusion coating technique, and a conductive ceramic layer was formed by anodic oxidation in a fluoride-containing H 2 SO 4 solution. The phase composition and surface microstructure of the oxide layer were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), indicating the presence of F-doped β-PbO 2 ceramic layer. The electrocatalytic … Show more

“…As shown in Figure , the potential of the anode does not alter during the process (3 h) at 0.045 A cm –2 ; thus, the stability of the composite anodes is suitable during the zinc electrowinning process. Figure also shows that PbO 2 –RuO 2 composite anodes have excellent stability without fluctuations during 3 h in the zinc electrowinning process compared to previous investigation, which reported the anodes with good stability and fluctuations during approximately the same time. To confirm this result, 50 voltammetry cycles were carried out.…”

“…Figure b shows the single-loop equivalent circuit to model the OER, in which R s is the electrolyte resistance and R ct is the charge transfer resistance for the OER process. Other researchers reported the single-loop Nyquist plots, and this circuit was also observed for the OER on the PbO 2 and RuO 2 surface. , The impedance parameters along with the admittance Y 0 and power of the related CPE (semi capacitor), n , were obtained for pure micro PbO 2 , PbO 2 –RuO 2 microcomposite, and nano-mixed composite anode catalysts by fitting the analyzed data using ZView software. The fitted parameters are given in Table .…”

“…The signal of Pb was observed, and the position of the peak was the same as that of the peak due to Au. XPS analysis of Au/TiO 2 (O 2 , 823) after the reaction revealed that the oxidation state of Pb is +4 as shown in Figure S12, indicating that the Pb species forming on Au particles is PbO 2 . The sample showed no diffraction peaks assignable to Pb species in an X-ray diffraction analysis, indicating that the thickness of the PbO 2 layer is very thin.…”
