Influence of Glyphosate Formulations on the Behavior of Sulfentrazone in Soil in Mixed Applications

Abstract: The selection of weed biotypes that are resistant to glyphosate has increased the demand for its use mixed with other herbicides, such as sulfentrazone. However, when chemical molecules are mixed, interactions may occur, modifying the behavior of these molecules in the environment, such as the sorption and desorption in soil. In this study, we hypothesized that the presence of glyphosate-formulated products might increase the sorption or decrease the desorption of sulfentrazone, thereby increasing the risk of … Show more

“…There was poor correlation between the HI values of the aforementioned definitions with respect to α-endosulfan ( R 2 = 0.4100), while the relationship was very strong for β-endosulfan ( R 2 = 0.9991). Langaro et al , 80 Bao et al , 81 and Adeola et al 82 all determined HI using Freundlich exponents for a single-step desorption. However, the latter expression is believed to be the most appropriate, acceptable, and valid for soil HI quantification for one-step desorption.…”

“…Sobre a segunda questão, 86% (ou 30 alunos) afirmaram que não costumam misturar produtos sem conhecimento prévio do que irão produzir, ao passo que 14% (ou 5 alunos) responderam que misturam. Langaro et al (2020) argumentam que as recomendações de segurança devem considerar todas as possíveis interações entre os componentes. É necessário conhecer as interações entre os ingredientes ativos e outros compostos (adjuvantes, surfactantes e inertes) que compõem o produto formulado.…”

“…26,27 However, the representative compound of the herbicide, sulfentrazone, 28 has a half-life of 110−180 days and has a long residual period in the soil, which will cause a certain degree of phytotoxicity to subsequent crops. 29 Therefore, it is of great significance to modify and optimize the structure of phenyl triazolinone compounds and study new triazolinone PPO inhibitor herbicides to find lead compounds with high activity and high safety.…”

“…Commercial herbicides that inhibit PPO include nine groups with different structures, such as diphenyl ether, triazolinone, phenylpyrazole, oxadiazole, thiadiazole, pyrimidinedione, oxazolidinedione, isoxazole, and N -phenylphthalimide. In recent decades, phenyltriazolinone derivatives have attracted great attention in the field of pesticide chemistry due to their excellent herbicidal activity. , However, the representative compound of the herbicide, sulfentrazone, has a half-life of 110–180 days and has a long residual period in the soil, which will cause a certain degree of phytotoxicity to subsequent crops .
