Influence of Human Body Temperature on Compressive Mechanical Properties of UHMWPE Acetabular Cup Material

Abstract: The tests of the compressive mechanical properties of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) acetabular cup material were carried out under the simulating human body temperatures and the variable loads in human natural walking cycle. Compared with the values at the room temperature 22͠, the yield stresses of UHMWPE at human body temperatures 37 ͠ and 40͠ decreased by 23.1 and 31.9, respectively.
