“…This was consistent with the results in which MMA was below 10 µg/kg in all the analyzed rice, rice crackers, rice-based infant cereal, and corn-based infant cereal [26]. Although the amount of MMA is usually low or negligible [27], some MMA could exist in the husk, where inorganic and organic species have an equal proportion(%), as assessed by X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy [28]. The low MMA revealed by our data was consistent with the reports of Jia-Yi Chen et al [6] and Meharg et al [29].…”

“…There have been further studies on the inuence of irrigation methods on As speciation in rice grain. 37 The concentrations of As III , As V , DMA, and MMA in grains from 26 different rice genotypes irrigated either with continuous ooding, periodic saturation or sprinkler irrigation were reported. Speciation was performed using IC-ICP-MS and PCA was also performed on a dataset of 78 rice samples (26 for each irrigation method) and 5 variables i.e., the total amount of As and the percent amounts of As III , of As V , of DMA, and of other As species, respectively.…”

“…Rice is a primary dietary staple for more than half of the world population. 12,13 It is an excellent scavenger for As compared to other staple crops. 14,15 Consumers are exposed to As either by consumption of grain or rice-based food products.…”
