The reliability of a piping system is a key factor for the safe operation of nuclear power plants. Thermal mixing of two streams in a T-junction piping may lead to temperature fluctuations and corresponding high-cycle thermal fatigue. This may lead to the pipe’s wall’s failure and coolant leakage. The present study deals with numerical simulations of thermal mixing in a T-junction using the Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation turbulence model. Several inflow boundary conditions were investigated in order to analyze the influence of inflow conditions on thermal mixing.
