Influence of metallic impurities on defect production and recovery in niobium neutron-irradiated at 4.6 K

Abstract: Pure niobium and niobium doped with 3000 to 4200 a t ppm Zr, Hf, MO, W, and Rh are irradiated a t 4.6 to 6 K in the reactor up to neut'ron doses of 2.72 x cm-2. The damage production rate of the doped samples increases in the range of 4 to 16.2 compared with the pure sample. This effect is probably due to the reduction of the radiation annealing processes caused by trapping of self interstitials a t the foreign atoms.
