Abstract-This research is a quantitative research that aims to know the description of parenting style as predictor of social competence of medical profession students in facing patients in Makassar City. Subjects in this study amounted to 96 students of medical professions who came from three Universities in Makassar. The subjects were chosen by using purposive sampling technique. This study uses two scales, namely the scale of parenting style and social competence scale and analyzed by using simple regression analysis technique.The results showed that parenting style is able to predict the social competence of medical profession students as much as 20.8%. Authoritative parenting is able to predict 19.7 percent so it can be said to predict the social competence significantly. Authoritarian parenting is able to predict as much as 8.1% and is deemed to be able to significantly predict social competence. Neglectful parenting is able to predict social competence by 0.2% so it is said to not be significant in predicting social competence. Indulgent parenting is able to predict social competence by 0.1% so it is said to not be significant in predicting social competence. Based on these results it is concluded that the types of parenting style that is able to predict the social competence of medical profession students are Authoritative parenting and Authoritarian parenting.

Childhood is the most important part in a person's life because that is when the parents in the family are obliged to build noble character values that will be the basis of his personality in days to come. Education at an early age the child receives is the foundation of his noble character in the future. The parenting system who applied by parents is closely related to the character of the child in the future. Generally, parenting is done jointly and continuously by both parents. This was not the case in the family environment of Labor Women, where women who work as foreign workers must leave the house within a certain time. Automatically, when the mother is not there, childcare responsibilities entirely switched to the father. This research aims to get an overview about the fathers parenting on early childhood in the family environment of Labor Women. In order to describe the social situation in depth, then used a qualitative approach. The father and his sons is a participant in the study. Data collection techniques, through observation; deep interview; and literature studies. Data analysis include data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Triangulation of data sources, which is one component of testing the credibility of the data in qualitative research, also conducted. The results showed, the typology of parenting fathers tend to do is authoritative. The methods used in the construction of the children's character at an early age is imitation and conditioning. A typology of different father parenting, it turns out that tend to produce different characters within the child

Latar belakang.Kemampuan sosialisasi berkontribusi besar bagi kesiapan anak bersekolah dan keberhasilan akademik. Banyak faktor yang berhubungan dengan kemampuan sosialisasi anak antara lain pendidikan ibu, pekerjaan ibu, status ekonomi dan pola asuh. Tujuan. Mengetahui hubungan pendidikan ibu, pekerjaan ibu, status ekonomi, pola asuh dengan kemampuan sosialisasi anak. Metode. Penelitian menggunakan metode cross sectional. Subjek penelitian adalah anak-anak yang mengikuti PAUD Kecamatan Seberang Ulu I Palembang tahun 2013 yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Dilakukan analisis untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan pendidikan ibu, pekerjaan ibu, status ekonomi, pola asuh terhadap kemampuan sosialisasi anak. Pola asuh dinilai menggunakan parenting style questionaire (PSQ), sedangkan kemampuan sosialisasi anak dengan interaction rating scale (IRS). Hasil. Empatpuluh anak diikutkan dalam penelitian. Pola asuh non otoritatif merupakan satu-satunya faktor yang ditemukan secara bermakna berhubungan dengan kurangnya kemampuan sosialisasi anak setelah analisis multivariat (p=0,001; OR 52,80).
