Influence of potassium on the productivity and quality of potato: A Review

Abstract: Potato ranks one of the most important food crops after rice, wheat, and other field crops. A healthy potato crop removes about 1.7 to 2.3 quintals of potassium ha-1, illustrating that the potassium requirement for potatoes is much higher than that of grains. Being a shallow root crop, the effectiveness of using potassium fertilizers on potatoes varies from 50 to 60 percent. Potassium nutrition plays an important role in increasing the potato yield, either due to the formation of large tubers or the increase i… Show more

“…Genotypes which can grow and yield well in soils low in available K are potassium efficient. Tuber crops have a high requirement for potassium compared with cereals, as the content of potassium in the harvested roots is high (Singh et al 2020). There is still 1 Seasonal Changes in Photosynthate Partitioning in High Yielding Sweet Potato Varieties under Varied K Nutrition Levels finite data on growth and potassium assimilation in sweet potato in response to varying potassium supply levels over time and the computation of such characteristics is necessary to screen for K efficient varieties (Rengel and Damon, 2008).…”
