During the Coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, several studies were conducted on mental health among various populations; however, only a few studies have focused on post-traumatic growth (PTG) in nursing students. By understanding the PTG involved in coping with emotionally challenging situations, educators, and institutions can prepare nursing students to navigate the demands of their profession and ultimately provide more empathetic and effective patient care. This study aimed to explore whether self-reflection and emotional self-disclosure are associated with PTG. A total of 195 nursing students completed the self-report questionnaire. This study used standardized instruments, including the self-reflection scale, emotional self-disclosure, and the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. The factors influencing PTG included self-reflection (β = 0.36; p < 0.001), emotional self-disclosure (β = 0.24; p < 0.001), grade (β = −0.18; p = 0.008), and religion (β = −0.15; p = 0.013). The explanatory power of these four factors was 31.4%, and self-reflection was found to have the greatest influence on PTG. The results indicated the need for self-reflection and emotional self-disclosure promotion programs to improve PTG, especially for senior and non-religious students.

The study is a descriptive survey aimed to determine factors influencing Problem solving ability and its correlation to Communication Competency, Self-Directed Learning Ability, Selfleadership, and Problem Solving Ability of nursing college students. The data were collected from nursing students in one universities through structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 24.0, Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation coefficients, Multiple regression, and Schéffe's test. Based on the result, Communication Competency by general characteristics revealed that there are significant differences in Personality, Major satisfaction and Application Motivation. Self-Directed Learning Ability had a significant differences in Gender, Personnality. Self-Leadership had significantly the differences in Gender, Grade, Personality, Major satisfaction and Application Motivation. And there are significant differences in Grade, Major satisfaction and Application Motivation in Problem Solving Ability. Problem Solving Ability had significant positive correlation with Communication Competency, Self-directed Learning Ability Selfleadership, and Problem Solving Ability of nursing students. The factors influencing on the Problem Solving Ability presented that Communication Competency and Self-leadership. The explanatory power of the model was 73.0%. As a result, it's necessary to prepare some strateges to improve program Communication Competency, Self-leadership and Problem Solving Ability improvement of nursing students.

Reflection-related Research in Korean Nursing: A Literature Review

This study was conducted to analyze research on reflection in Korean nursing, and suggest future directions for effective application of reflective practice in Korean nursing education and practice. Methods: A review was performed using domestic databases including RISS, KISS, DBpia, and NDSL. Twenty-three papers were analyzed according to general characteristics, key variables regarding reflection, and findings regarding reflection. Results: Reflection in nursing research has received attention since 2005, generating almost half the publications in the last 3 years. Key variables regarding reflection were classified into reflection-related general term (34.7%), reflective action (8.6%), and reflection writing method (56.7%). Findings regarding reflection were categorized into correlation of reflection with other variables (26.1%), learning evaluation using a reflective journal (22.2%), effects of applying reflection as an intervention (47.4%), and Korean Self-Reflection and Insight Scale validation (4.3%). Conclusion: Results indicate that reflection or reflective practice is an important component in integrating theories to practice, and that reflective practice is a prerequisite to becoming a professional nurse as well as a crucial tool for ideal changes in nursing. Considerable effort should be made to define the concept of reflective practice and effectively apply it to nursing education and practice in Korea.
