Influence of silane‐modified coconut shell powder on thermal and mechanical properties of thermoplastic elastomers

Abstract: A silane coupling agent (glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane, GPTMS) was used to modify coconut shell powder (CSP), and the influence of the modified coconut shell powder (G‐CSP) on the thermal and mechanical properties of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) was investigated. The thermal stabilities of the G‐CSP‐TPEs were studied using TGA; Young's modulus of the G‐CSP‐TPEs was studied by means of the spherical indentation test and the tensile test, and the tensile test was also used to characterize the tensile stre… Show more

“…These two dimensions of prepared samples were of 30 mm × 30 mm × 5 mm and Φ20 mm × 3 mm, and used for different tests, as mentioned below. The preparation method was in accordance with the methods of (Cheng et al, 2018; Qian, Cheng, Ni, Yu, & Zhang, 2020). In addition, the ceramic ball with a diameter of 6 mm and a glass with a cuboid of 30 mm × 30 mm × 5 mm was used as the rubbing pair to estimate the tribological properties of certain foods.…”

“…Recently, improved strategies for preparing thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) with excellent properties in processing and repeating processes 4,5 have been applied to solve these problems. One of the most interesting strategies is to prepare thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV), a special class of TPEs whose properties are closer to those of a thermoset rubber compared with other TPEs.…”
