Abstract:The dependence of the physical properties on the substitution of small Ln fractions in the system Bi1.75Pb0.25Sr2Ca1−xLnxCu2O8+z with 0 ≦ x ≦ 0.1 is investigated for Ln = Gd, Yb. The superconducting properties are determined by two factors: (i) the fraction x and (ii) the method of preparation. The field as well as the temperature dependence of the critical current density is likewise dependent on the fraction of Ln.
