Influence of Structure and Physical-Mechanical Characteristics of Threads on the Strength of Binding the Books

Abstract: In this study was analyzed the physical-mechanical properties and characteristics of different type of threads (linen, polyamide, cotton, polyester, silky) for blocks sewing. Investigated the brochure block binding with reduced threads surface friction coefficient, physical-mechanical parameters analysis. An important step in calculating the strength of threads for book sections and book blocks sewing is the choice of the strength criterion. For this purpose, are analyzed the influence of the structure of cott… Show more

“…However, in contrast to the research results published in [6,7,9,11], the data obtained on changing the linear dimensions of the adhesive plate areas under the influence of elastic deformation forces make it possible to assert the followingthe efforts leading to the linear dimensions change of semicircular areas influence the distribution of internal stresses, from equilibrium, across the entire structure of a spine plate, to the formation of the stretching and compressing zones.…”

“…This can be achieved after analysis and the selection of possible components, taking into account the mechanical properties that arise after the use of such modifiers, which substantially depend on the adhesive strength between the material of the outer part of the cover and the adhesive binder. Therefore, for experimental use, substances with high adhesive properties should be used for thick coated papers and thin binding boards [16], from which semirigid book and magazine covers are made. When planning an experimental study, in the preparation and testing of modified adhesive com positions, it was taken into account that films obtained from PVA latex have improved flexibility, elasticity, high adhesion and water resistance when watersoluble modifiers are added to them.…”

“…where D p is the optical density of a raster field; D pl is the optical density of a printing surface; and ∆S is an area of typographical element. However, when measuring a relative size of a raster dot on some materials, it is necessary to consider optical light feathering, therefore, the Yule-Nielsen correction coefficient is introduced into the Sheberstov-Murray-Davis formula [20]:…”
