Influence of temperature and food concentrations on growth and moulting of the barnacle, Microeuraphia permitini (Zevina & Litvinova, 1970) (Chthamalidae, Euraphinae): a laboratory experiment

Abstract: Chthamalid barnacles may be highly affected by environmental factors as they Uve in the upper intertidal zone, where other balanids cannot hve due to the harsh conditions of the habitat. This study presents some information on the effects of temperature and food availability on the growth and moulting rates of a chthamalid barnacle, Microeuraphia permitini (Zevina & Litvinova, 1970) of the subfamily Euraphinae. Growth and moulting rates were estimated at different temperatures (20, 25 and 30°C) and food conce… Show more

“…DSRC is a wireless communication technology, mostly conceived for active safety. The US Department of Transportation [31], the SAE [28], ETSI [32], and several private companies [33,34,35,36,26,27] have used DSRC to develop standards and products. Applications include safety warnings (forward collisions, blind spots, emergency vehicles, road works), intersection assistance and safety, traffic conditions, payment of tolls Figure 1: Cartoon depicting a variety of intelligent transportation system on highway, arterial and urban roads enabled by connected and automated vehicles (CAVs).…”

“…Growth patterns of barnacles depend on several factors, including food availability (Page, 1986;Bertness et al 1991;Savari et al 2014), population density and competition (Barnes & Powell 1950;Skerman 1958), current velocity (Smith 1946;Eckman & Duggins 1993) and temperature with enhanced growth at warmer conditions (Skerman 1958;Inatsuchi et al 2010). Besides variations in environmental conditions, growth performance of Lepas may be affected by genetic and phenotypic differences.…”

“…Zeolite imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) has low cytotoxicity, optimal drug delivery capability, acceptable drug loading, and biodegradability, making them promising drug delivery carriers 2,14,15 . ZIF-8 nanoparticles' sensitivity to pH 2,3,16 allows them to be broken down and regulate the release of drugs in the acidic environments found in tumor cells and the surrounding tissue.…”

“…(CS) Chitosan's backbone contains numerous functional groups, it can easily reform, and due to its sustained/controlled release properties, it can be conjugated to other polymeric NPs or loaded with medicinal medicines and imaging agents 2,23,24 . Chitosan may be taken into consideration as an extra therapeutic approach to prevent neuronal death in conditions linked to oxidative stress.…”
