“…Aer the sulfonation, new peaks observed at 693, 1068, 2589 and 2932 cm À1 indicate the presence of S-O, S]O bonds and strong hydrogen bond in HSO 3 groups. 26,27,31 This suggests that sulfonic (HSO 3 ) group was successfully added to the ZSM-5 zeolite structure. These results are once again conrmed by EDS data as shown in Fig.…”

“…Sulfonic acid-functionalized mesoporous ZSM-5 zeolite was synthesized by a method following a report. 26 In typical, rst mesoporous ZSM-5 was synthesized by hydrothermal method using hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (C 16 H 33 (CH 3 ) 3 -NBr, CTAB) as a mesogenous templates. The synthetic solution was hydrothermally heated at 170 C for 24 h in an autoclave.…”

“…Therefore, common stainless steels cannot be adopted for the acid hydrothermal treatments, which instead require special alloys, such as various grades of Hastelloy, zirconium or other corrosion-resistant alloys, which ensure excellent corrosion resistance to acids, even at high severity conditions [37]. These issues drove the research towards the employment of low-cost acid solid catalysts, such as styrene-based sulfonic acid resins (Amberlysts) [38][39][40][41][42][43][44]. The use of these catalysts can provide a large number of advantages over the traditional homogeneous acid catalysts: (i) better reaction control, (ii) reduced formation of by-products, (iii) easy and safe operation with minor corrosion problems compared to homogeneous catalysis, (iv) advantageous recovery of the catalyst with less waste disposal.…”

“…Typical peak of Ti-O was detected at about 946 cm -1 and 813 cm -1 in titania nanofibres, however, this peak was not detected in HY-TiO 2 -80, HY-TiO 2 -100, HY-TiO 2 -120 and HY-TiO 2 -140, because it may be overlapped by the strong band of the zeolite HY nanocrystals on the titania nanofibres. 30,31 Besides, The broad peak at 3450 cm -1 and 1629 cm -1 were assigned to the stretching vibration and bending vibration of O-H bond in absorbed water respectively, 32,33 while the weak peak at around 2924 cm -1 is probably assigned to carbonaceous contaminants. 34 Hence, all these observations are consistent with the XRD results, indicating that the zeolite HY nanocrystals are well grafted onto the titania nanofibres.…”
