Influence of the morphological texture on the low wear damage of paint coated sheets

Abstract: The influence of the morphological texture (flat and structured) of a polyester based paint coating on the low wear damage is characterised by means of roughness and gloss measurements. Using statistical methods, the aim of the investigation is to determine, among about 60 surface roughness parameters, the most relevant of them with regard to the morphological texture and the wear behaviour of polymer coatings. The level of relevance of each roughness is quantitatively assessed through the calculation of a sta… Show more

“…In order to validate this assumption, this parameter was to be submitted, along with other roughness parameters, to a relevance analysis. It was performed by a computer software program called MESRUG ® [23] that allows us to calculate a large number of roughness parameters, standard or not, and to statistically estimate their relevance according to any particular functional property. The relevance of each parameter is estimated by means of a one-way analysis of variance procedure then plotted on a graph.…”

“…To address this question, the present authors have designed a novel analysis system status surface, MesRug. 199 199,200 The objective is to build a robust statistical analysis to create a probabilistic index that characterises the relevance of each scale. A recently developed data analysis tool called the Bootstrap is used to determine the process conditions that give the best correlation with biological properties.…”

“…With the objective to answer this question, an original surface analysis system called 'MesRug' has been designed [41][42][43][44]. The interest of this system is to build a robust statistical analysis to create a probabilistic index, independent of the number of parameters that characterize the relevance of each roughness parameter.…”
