Influence of the Product Context of Use on a Hybrid Sport-Health Semantics

Abstract: Products appearances are made of design choices influencing the way products are perceived. Products semantics is a methods used to understand and anticipate this phenomena. Nowadays, consumers consider sport products not only as “sport” but also as “health” products. Designers may then develop them as “sport-health” products. However, perception of “sport-health” products may vary according to the need to fit sport or health context of use. We present in this paper our experimental approach to understand the … Show more

“…In this use, results of the Differential Semantics allow to map all the semantics on a x-y graph and observe how they are related. Its use allows to refine the semantic space by eliciting semantics that are close in meanings (Petiot and Yannou, 2004) or if they are more suitable to translate the perception of a specific product domain (Millet et al, 2020). In spite of these various representations, we note that the construction of the semantic space relies on the expression of users and/or experts.…”

“…POE is widely spread and recognized in healthcare design in terms of human-centered design impact (Millet et al, 2018) and evidence-based design methodology founded on Vischer (2009). A large international scientific literature established the relation between the hospital design of the hospital and multifaceted impact on patients and staff (Ulrich et al, 2008; Ulrich et al, 2010).…”
