Influence of various additives on properties of concrete

Abstract: A comparative analysis of concrete samples without chemical additives and three concrete samples with additives was carried out The first sample contains the liquid additive, the other two contain the powder additive. The article aims at finding out the effectiveness of additives influence on the physical and mechanical properties of concrete and the basis for the application areas of modified types of concrete. By means of laboratory tests, the physical and mechanical properties of concrete mixtures are deter… Show more

“…The previous research from Bayer [10] describes that the addition of mineral additives in the manufacture of mass concrete can reduce temperature much more effectively than controlling hydration. Moreover, other previous researchs conclude the similar result [11]- [12].…”

“…They reduce the probability of water ingress, reducing the permeability and shrinkage of concrete during drying [ 8 ]. Additives are introduced into the water-cement mixture in small quantities to increase the durability of concrete, improve its properties, and control setting or hardening [ 9 , 10 , 11 ]. It can be liquid or powdery substances.…”

“…When examining the motorway pier after seven years of operation, no chlorides were found in the hydrophobized concrete [ 59 ]. Hydrophobic additives do not have a negative effect on the strength of concrete; on the contrary, some concretes with hydrophobic additives have increased strength [ 9 , 60 ]. Since water-repellent substances are evenly distributed over the entire volume of concrete, they do not change the appearance of the product.…”

“…However, modified clay, multicomponent mortars have been developed on the basis of local raw materials to replace these imported materials [11,12]. These locally sourced mortars have become popular due to their high physical and mechanical indicators as well as their effective mixture preparation technology [13][14][15][16]. Therefore, there is a need to study the performance of the mentioned composite mortars in chemically aggressive environments.…”
