Zusammenfassung Der Beitrag beschreibt ein Rahmenwerk für praxisorientierte Langzeitforschung, das an Boyers vier Scholarships angelehnt ist. Das Modell wird im Rahmen der Initiative IndustryConnect seit mehr als fünf Jahren erfolgreich für die gemeinsame Forschung im Themengebiet Digitaler Arbeitsplatz eingesetzt. Die besonderen Erfolgsfaktoren der gemeinsamen Arbeit zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis werden erläutert, wie zum Beispiel die Schaffung einer gemeinsamen Begriffswelt und das Anlegen einer gemeinsamen Wissensbasis. Das Rahmenwerk umfasst einen ausgewählten Methodenmix, inklusive der speziell entwickelten Methoden eXperience Fallstudien und Milestories, und der damit verbundenen Methodenausbildung für Doktoranden. Typische Ergebnisse aus dieser Art der Forschung sind Erklärungs-und Klassifikationsmodelle, Methoden und Prototypen, für die exemplarische Publikationen aufgeführt werden. Am Ende des Beitrags findet sich ein Bericht über Erfahrungen und Erkenntnisse aus der gemeinsamen Forschungsarbeit "mit und für die Praxis" sowie eine Ermutigung, dem Aufruf von Nunamaker et al. zu folgen, die "letzte Meile in der WI-Forschung zu gehen".

Blockchain technology has the potential to resolve trust concerns in cross-organizational workflows and to reduce reliance on paper-based documents as trust anchors. Although these prospects are real, so is regulatory uncertainty. In particular, the reconciliation of blockchain with Europe's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is proving to be a significant challenge. We tackled this challenge with the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. Here, we explain how we used Action Research to guide the Federal Office in creating a GDPR-compliant blockchain solution for the German asylum procedure. Moreover, we explain the architecture of the Federal Office's solution and present two design principles for developing GDPRcompliant blockchain solutions for crossorganizational workflow management.

Industry practitioners deal with complex and fastmoving information system (IS) related challenges. IS academic researchers generate substantive theoretical outputs dealing with many of these challenges. Unfortunately, practitioners rarely make use of this academic research. This represents a serious gap that has negative consequences for academics and practitioners alike. This paper identifies aspects of the academic-practitioner gap and describes five criteria (value, velocity, visibility, voice, and verifiability) that researchers may use throughout the research process to increase the likelihood of creating research outputs that will be used by practitioners. These criteria are linked to three approaches for conducting research most likely to impact practitioners-direct creation of practitioner content, translation of scholarly research and co-production. We close with specific recommendations for IS academics to overcome the gap.
