Information technology outsourcing relationship integration: a critical success factors study based on ranking problems (P.γ) and correlation analysis

Abstract: Information technology (IT) outsourcing is an interesting alternative for companies that want to obtain certain benefits by delegating IT activities to a provider to keep their focus on their core activities. This outsourcing involves a process that begins with the provider selection, passing through a series of negotiations, and reaching the definition of a contract, which will guide and delimitate the execution of activities, the interaction, and the relationship between the involved parties. “…There is no uniformity in the academic and policy literature regarding both “regulatory governance” and “regulatory impact assessment.” In this paper, the authors refer to regulatory governance as the “process under which state and non‐state actors interact to design and implement policies related to utility regulation (the policy) under a certain regulatory regime (formal and informal rules)” (Carvalho, Marques, & Netto, ). Moreover, the authors define RIA as a “policy tool that systematically exams the potential impact arising from government action (Carvalho, Poleto, & Seixas, ) and should create a stimulus to improve the governance.” Both concepts could be connected in such a way that RIA may contribute equally to the results and the procedure of the regulatory function (Dunlop & Radaelli, ; Kirkpatrick & Parker, ).…”

“…Recent research focused on ITO success factors include insights into best practices for ITO contract models (De Carvalho et al, 2018;Luong and Stevens, 2015), mitigating ITO risks and barriers (González et al, 2016), factors of ITO knowledge transactions VJIKMS 50,2 (Hodosi et al, 2017) and types of CSFs related to ITO (Mehta and Mehta, 2017). Recent research focused on KT outcomes include insights into client and vendor characteristics (Teo and Bhattacherjee, 2014), ITO onboarding practices and ITO vendor skill sets.…”

“…Information technology outsourcing (ITO) is the term used when information technology (IT) client organizations decide to contract out some or all of the organization's IT functions to an external vendor who agrees to provide specific services for a specific fee and duration (Al-Salti and Hackney, 2011). Having gained focus as both a cost-saving factor and a means for gaining competitive advantage, one expected outcome of the ITO initiative is successful knowledge transfer, because knowledge transfer between clients and vendor partners expands intellectual capital for the client organization and enhances innovation (Chang and Gurbaxani, 2012;De Carvalho et al, 2018). Successful knowledge transfer between client and vendor partners was positively related to ITO project success from both the client and vendor perspectives (Sudhakar, 2013).…”

“…Carvalho, Poleto, and Seixas ()( Information technology outsourcing relationship integration: a critical success factors study based on ranking problems [P·γ] and correlation analysis) present a longitudinal study on the areas of outsourcing for professionals and researchers. This work focuses on methodology, based on initial data collection, which applies multicriteria analysis to obtain a ranking of elements in terms of their importance, as defined by outsourcing and provider companies in the IT area, as well as a correlation analysis of the elements chosen from the ranking.…”
