It is known that disasters are events that take place outside of human control. The media have a critical role before and after disasters. Disaster journalism, which aims to inform the masses about disasters, is a branch of expertise that has been preferred in our country recently. In this study, based on the agendasetting theory, the Izmir earthquake that occurred on October 30, 2020, where material damage and loss of life were experienced, was evaluated. The news of two different ideological newspapers Sabah-Yeni Şafak and Sözcü-Cumhuriyet about the Izmir earthquake were analyzed through content analysis. The main purpose of the study is to reveal how the Izmir earthquake, which deeply affected Turkey, took place in the national press, around which topics the news content was mostly prepared, and how national newspapers determined the agenda regarding the Izmir earthquake. In the research, a total of 90 articles were analyzed, 24 from Sabah newspaper, 21 from Yeni Şafak newspaper, 29 from Sözcü newspaper and 16 from Cumhuriyet newspaper. In this context, it can be said that Sözcü newspaper has the most news and Cumhuriyet newspaper has the least. On November 7, the last day of the news review, only Sabah newspaper reported. When the positions of the news on the page were examined, it was seen that all the examined newspapers included the news mostly in the middle of the page, that is, in the headline. In addition, no newspaper reported the news about the Izmir earthquake on the entire page.
