Infraorbital Nerve Decompression for Chronic Post Traumatic Neuralgia: A Novel Approach and Review of the Safety and Efficacy of Piezoelectric Surgery on Soft Tissues and Nerves

Abstract: In the present case, the patient had a previous clinical diagnosis of decompensated type 2 DM, corroborating with Ko et al, 4 in which he found that chronic hyperglycemia worsens odontogenic infections, alters oral vascularization, and increases the time for wound healing. The diagnosis of odontogenic infections with characteristics of NF is essential. Immediate treatments include surgical debridement and broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy, with hyperbaric oxygen therapy and the graft technique, associated with … Show more

“…Although it appears that there is a lot of space for the artery and compression seems unlikely on the dissected hemi-head, before any intervention all the elements were held very tightly together by the surrounding connective tissue. ION neuralgia is a rare condition, most often after trauma in the area [10,11]. ION decompression is done to alleviate treatment-resistant headaches, when the pain is triggered around the innervation of the ION [10,11].…”
