Infrared and polarized Raman spectra of TlLa(SO4)2 · 2H2O

Abstract: IR and polarized Raman spectra of a TILa(SO,), -2H,O crystal were recorded and analysed. The bands observed in the internal mode region of the SO:-ion indicate the presence of two crystallographically distinct SO:-ions in the crystal, in agreement with the x-ray diffraction data. These SO:-ions have stronger S-0 bonds than a free SO, ion. The water molecule forms hydrogen bonds of medium strength.
