Infrared Lattice Vibrations of TI₃AsS₄

Abstract

Infrared Lattice Vibrations of Tl,AsS,Infrared reflectivity spcctra of Tl,AsS, single crystals are measured at room temperature in the wavenumber range from 30 to 4000 cm-for the polarization directions E 11 c and E 11 a. An analysis of the spectra with the Kramers-Kronig method reveals 10 infrared active modcs for each of the polarization directions. O n the basis of theoretical estimates the modes due to T1-S and As -S bond vibrations are identified.Infrarot-Reflexionsspektren von Tl,AsS, -Einkristallen wurden bei Raumtemperatur im Wellenzahlbereich von 30 his 4000 cm fur die Polarisationsrichtungen E // c and E 11 a gemessen. Eine Analyse der Spektren mit der Kramers-Kronig-Methode ergibt fur beide Polarisationsrichtungen jeweils 10 infrarotaktive Moden. Auf der Grundlage theoretischer Abschltzungen werden die durch TI -S-und As -S-Bindungsschwingungen verursachten Moden identifiziert.
