Infrared spectra and structure of tetravalent uranium chloride nanoclusters in electron-donor solvents

Abstract: We have studied the IR absorption spectra of tetravalent uranium chlorides in electron-donor solvents. We discuss the changes in these spectra on coordination of the solvent molecules to the tetravalent uranium. We consider the participation of water molecules in this process. On this basis, we draw the conclusion that clusters form with coordination number equal mainly to six.

“…A sharp peak at 1710 cm −1 is observed in the spectrum of PMAA-g-Cell/Bent, confirming the presence of −COOH moiety. The peaks appeared at 1420 cm −1 in the spectrum of Th(IV) loaded PMAA-g-Cell/Bent, indicating that the −COOH moiety gets converted into its salt, carboxylate, 16 and the peak at 420 cm −1 indicates Th−O stretching vibrations. 10 Moreover, the presence of the characteristic peak of Th(IV) at 624.3 cm −1, in the spectrum of Th(IV)-loaded PMAA-g-Cell/Bent, further confirmed the adsorption of Th(IV) to PMAA-g-Cell/Bent.…”

“…So it can be inferred that the COOH moiety gets converted into carboxylates. 11 The FTIR spectrum of BSA shows characteristic peaks at 1650 and 1550 cm -1 . These peaks are due to the protein secondary structure.…”

“…Also, new peaks were seen at 1300 and 1420 cm −1 , indicating the presence of carboxylate groups. So it can be inferred that the COOH moiety gets converted into carboxylates . The FTIR spectrum of BSA shows characteristic peaks at 1650 and 1550 cm −1 .…”
