The teacher competency needed when carrying out professional duties in front of the class is Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). One of the PCK competencies needed by teachers today is to have learning strategies according to the topic and students' conditions. In connection with this, the Kuningan University Postgraduate School, in collaboration with the Kuningan Regency Science Subject Teachers' Conference, held a Teacher Competency Improvement Workshop. The methods used in this workshop are lectures, question and answer sessions, and assignment methods. The results obtained from holding this workshop were an increase in participants' competence in packaging learning material that was easy for students to understand and appropriate for the students' conditions. This can be seen from the increase in pre-test results (mean = 0.61) to post-test PCK (mean = 61.38), indicating a rise of 40.49. Participants also increasingly understand how to package teaching materials so that they are easily understood by students and suitable for the students' conditions. This is evident when participants are given the task of completing several case examples, including those related to choosing learning strategies according to variations in topics and student conditions. Based on this, PCK training through workshops can be a solution for teacher professional development.

A Semiotics Analysis of the Interior Design of an Indonesian Elementary and Junior High School Classroom

This study interrogates the relationship between the interior design of a classroom and the teaching-learning process of primary and junior high school students. The investigations of the learning processes are rarely associated with classroom designs as their key variable in achieving the learning objectives. In fact, from a semiotic perspective, interior design has a hidden dimension related to human character formation.It employs Saussure's structural semiotics and Peirce's pragmatic semiotics to uncover the hidden dimension based on survey data from 260 primary and secondary schools across several regions and cities in Indonesia. It also carries out interviews with 100 students and 50 teachers, including school principals.The findings reveal that the classroom interior design refers to the Western modernism paradigm, which is systemic, formalistic, and static method on the one hand, and meets the state supervision system through regulations and semiotic devices in the classroom on the other. As a result, schools have become ideological institutions that tend to stifle students' and teachers' creativity. This study contributes to the future development of the education system by investigating student classroom designs.

This research was motivated by the factual condition of the occurrence of a moral crisis among Indonesia's young generation, including the weak culture of the main character values. This development research was aimed to develop moral intelligence-based Citizenship Education learning as a systemic program for the culture of the main character values. The scope of this research was limited to the study of civics learning based on moral intelligence as a systemic program of cultivating character values among students. The research method was used by the Research & Development. The research subjects involved: (1) a lecturer who taught introduction courses of civics; (2) students is limited group trials as subject; and (3) three experts for the validation of teaching materials who had criteria for Citizenship Education experts including: politics, law, and moral philosophy. The instrument was used an expert validation questionnaire which was analyzed using the Percentage Mean Score (PRS). The results of the research showed that civics learning textbook based on intelligent moral that developed was very valid and suitable for being used and giving contribution on the strengthen of character for students in their scope life in global era that full of change and value paradoxes.
