Abstract: The human pathobiont Streptococcus pyogenes forms biofilms and causes invasive infections, such as pharyngotonsillitis and necrotizing fasciitis. Bacterial biofilms are more resilient to antibiotic treatment and new therapeutic strategies are needed to control biofilm-associated infections, such as recurrent pharyngotonsillitis.
