For example, local anaesthetics inhibit Na channels (Lee, 1976;Heidmann & Changeux, 1979), Ca channels (Spedding & Berg, 1985), K channels (Ohya et al, 1987), Na, K-ATPase (Sidek et al, 1984), Ca, Mg-ATPase (Garcia- Martin & Gutierrez-Merino, 1986) and Na/Ca exchange (Michaelis & Michaelis, 1983). It is possible that change in the K+-induced contraction after muscarinic stimulation was inhibited by these inhibitory effects of local anaesthetics on transmembrane ion movements.…”
