A novel alanine ternary complex (ALA-T) is prepared by the reaction of alanine (ALA), phosphoric acid, and dibutylamine. FTIR technique is used to characterise its structure. The weight-loss experiments in the closed space study the volatility of the alanine ternary complex. The ultrathin coating is formed on the surface of carbon steel by vapour phase assembly of the alanine ternary complex. The thickness of the coatings is measured using spectroscopic ellipsometry. The inhibition effect of ultrathin coatings on the corrosion of carbon steel is studied by the volatile-inhibiting ability (VIA) and the electrochemical tests. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) are utilised to examine the morphology and composition of the carbon steel surface. It shows that the complex ultrathin coating has good corrosion inhibition for carbon steel. The protection mechanism of the ultrathin coating is discussed and analysed.

Aqueous Aluminum‐air batteries (AABs) hold promise for advancing high‐energy density storage systems in future technologies. However, their widespread practical deployment is limited by the inherent hydrogen side reactions in Aluminum (Al) and incomplete cathodic reactions. To address these challenges, the Al‐sodium persulfate (Na2S2O8) system is introduced as an alternative to traditional AABs. Utilizing Na2S2O8 allows to simultaneously achieve three critical objectives, namely, eliminating the need for a cathode catalyst, increasing the system voltage from 1.4 to 2 V, and reducing the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Three distinct configurations of the Aluminum electrochemical energy system (Al‐EES) using Na2S2O8: static, flow, and gel are developed. The static configuration demonstrates a performance 1.7 times superior to that of traditional AABs. The flow configuration of Al‐EES achieves a discharge duration of 77 h, which is three to four times longer than that of AABs and exhibits an energy density of 2,650 Wh kgAl−1. This emerging technology has the potential to significantly enhance electric vehicles by providing powerful, efficient, cost‐effective, and durable power‐generation devices.

Al‐air batteries (AABs) are regarded as a promising future alternative energy source due to their supposedly high energy density. The corrosion of AABs resulting from the hydrogen evolution corrosion and self‐corrosion occurring during their use in alkaline solutions represented a significant obstacle to their development, considerably limiting their commercialization. In this study, we examined the corrosion inhibition efficiency of the hybrid anticorrosive agent composed of potassium stannate (K2SO3) and riboflavin (Rib) when used as an addition in the electrolyte of an alkaline AAB. The experimental results demonstrated that the incorporation of the hybrid corrosion inhibitor leads to an anticorrosion inhibition efficiency of 70.2%, an increase in the discharge specific capacity, and specific energy of the entire battery from 913 mAh g−1 and 1023 Wh kg−1 to 2128 mAh g−1 and 2511 Wh kg−1, respectively. The adsorption behavior of the additives on the surface of the Al alloy was studied using surface characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It revealed that the incorporation of the hybrid additive leads to the formation of a dense and uniform protective layer on the surface of the Al anode during the discharge process. This film effectively prevents direct contact between the alkaline electrolyte and the Al surface, drastically reducing the formation of possible hydrogen interactions between the electrolyte and the anode. Consequently, the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is efficiently inhibited, and the overall performance of the AAB is improved. Thus, this electrolyte regulation strategy presents a novel approach to studying high‐efficiency alkaline AABs.
