Abstract: Our results suggested that TNF-alpha impairs cellular migration by enhancing cellular adhesive ability following significant focal adhesion and stress fiber formation.

“…In PDL cells, there have only been a few studies to examine the mechanisms of integrin‐induced migration. In contrast to our data, increased expression of integrin α5 was shown to be involved in the migration inhibition under inflammatory conditions mediated by tumour necrosis factor‐α . Glial cell‐derived neurotrophic factor enhances the PDL cell migration via integrin αvβ3 .…”

“…In contrast to our data, increased expression of integrin α5 was shown to be involved in the migration inhibition under inflammatory conditions mediated by tumour necrosis factor-α. 29 Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor enhances the PDL cell migration via integrin αvβ3. 30 However, in PCR array analysis, the mRNA levels of integrin αv were similar between PDL cells stimulated with PDGF-BB and controls.…”

“…5 In present study, we found that the depletion of POSTN reduced the percentage of CD146+ cells and increased the percentage of CD34+ cells in PDLSCs, which suggested revealed that TNFα reduces migration and POSTN expression in PDL cells. 38,39 A former study reported that exogenous POSTN restores TNFα-suppressed migration of PDL cells. 36 These results indicated that suppression of PDL cell migration by TNFα may be caused by a decrease of POSTN.…”

“…MMP expressions can be induced by various growth factors and cytokines, including epidermal growth factor [41]. The expression of integrins can also be induced by tumor necrosis factor alpha [42]. These inductions require the activation of the Rho pathway.…”
