Inhomogeneous Broadening of the Exciton Band in Optical Absorption Spectra of InP/ZnS Nanocrystals

Abstract: In this work, we have simulated the processes of broadening the first exciton band in optical absorption spectra (OA) for InP/ZnS ensembles of colloidal quantum dots (QDs). A phenomenological model has been proposed that takes into account the effects of the exciton–phonon interaction, and allows one to analyze the influence of the static and dynamic types of atomic disorder on the temperature changes in the spectral characteristics in question. To vary the degree of static disorder in the model system, we hav… Show more

“…This may have been due a 'smearing out' of the absorption peak due to structural disorder. [56][57][58] We calculated the absorption spectra for the pure Sb-based compound convoluted with Gaussian peaks with wider FWHM (0.2 eV, 0.3 eV, 0.4 eV; Fig. S16, ESI ‡).…”

“…Previously, we also studied InP/ZnS nanocrystals synthesized using an identical procedure but coated with modified polyacrylic acid (PAA). 38,40,41 In this work, they will be designated as QD-3 (2.1 nm) and QD-4 (2.3 nm), and we will use the corresponding data on their optical and luminescent properties in a wide temperature range during a comparative analysis and generalizations.
