Inkjet Printed Metamaterial Loaded Antenna for WLAN/WiMAX Applications

Abstract: In this paper, the design and performance analysis of an Inkjetprinted metamaterial loaded monopole antenna is presented for wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications. The proposed metamaterial structure consists of two layers, one is rectangular tuning fork-shaped antenna, and another layer is an inkjet-printed metamaterial superstate. The metamaterial layer is designed using four split-ring resonators (SRR) with an H-shaped inner structure to … Show more

“…WLAN and WiMAX are another application of inkjet antennas, which allows for data connectivity with high speeds. 122 Like previous applications, this is simply a more cost-effective approach in making technology that already exists. This technology is used for wireless devices like computers and phones, 122 meaning that mass production is required, and manufacturing will benefit greatly from a simpler and cheaper production process.…”

“…122 Like previous applications, this is simply a more cost-effective approach in making technology that already exists. This technology is used for wireless devices like computers and phones, 122 meaning that mass production is required, and manufacturing will benefit greatly from a simpler and cheaper production process. A unique application of inkjet-printed antennas is for wireless power transfer, 123 though this application is still uncommon and its usefulness as a manufacturing method is not yet clear.…”

“…Inkjet printing leads all additive manufacturing methods in the production of high quality electrical conductors [1][2][3] interconnects [4,5] planar antennas [6][7][8], RFID systems [9][10][11], sensors/transducers [12][13][14] and a host of other electronic devices that utilize metals as the principal functional material. As such, development of printing processes has principally focused on achieving metallic structures with the highest possible electrical conductivity.…”

“…Moreover, atmospheric phenomena not related to radiation from space represent another subject of intensive research. Camouflage technology [ 10 ], invisible cloaks [ 11 ], antennas [ 12 , 13 ], super lenses [ 14 ], sensors [ 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 ], filters [ 20 ] and physical property detection [ 21 ] are some non-atmospheric applications. With the rapid improvement of simulation software and new measuring tools, real breakthroughs are being discovered every moment by researchers.…”
