“…The separation between healthcare providers and patients is being overcome, and a strict logic of closeness is assumed in the formation of the healthcare ecosystem; that is, there is a "linked system of suppliers of products with a value constellation of other cocreating actors" (Joiner and Lusch, 2016, p. 32). Extant studies have mainly focussed on customers and their practices (McColl-Kennedy et al, 2017), while little is known about how new mediating actors that are exploiting convergent technologies, are able to integrate different actors and resources to innovatively shape the healthcare ecosystem (Mele and Russo-Spena, 2019). Uber's recent health initiative to provide non-emergency hospital rides for patients is one example of how new actors are developing new ways to connect multiple value-co-creating actors.…”
