Innovation relaxation belts to reduce labor pain itensity and increase β-endoprhine levels

Abstract: Background: Labor pain feels tremendous, and only 2-4% of mothers low pain during labor. Heat therapy is a non-pharmacological method. The heat therapy is still conventional, and this study uses a relaxation belt with more stable, dry heat media, and comfortable. Objective: This study aims to develop and test a relaxation belt for efforts to reduce labor pain intensity and increase β-endorphin levels in the primigravida of the active labor phase.Method: This study Research and Development (R&D). It consiste… Show more

“…Warmth also stimulates nerve fibers that close the pain gate so that the transmission of pain impulses to the spinal cord and brain can be inhibited. 14,17 Meanwhile, according to Susiloningtyas et al (2019), warm compresses on the tissues stimulate circulation and increase the localization of purulent materials. 18 In addition, the stimulation of hot or warm compresses can elicit different physiological responses.…”

“…This heat pillow thermotherapy is made with a temperature rule of 38°-44°C, it follows the principle according to the theory that heat therapy if applied to skin receptors will cause relaxation and pleasant to access the spinal cord in reducing pain. (34) This is seen from the aspect of Vander's theory which states that the body can allow small temperature changes, but if there is a temperature deviation of 4-5 ° C, it will usually occur in the nervous system, if the normal temperature is 36.5 ° C-37.5 ° C the maximum will only reach 43 ° C. this if given excessive temperature will cause damage to cellular structures, necrosis can cause heat stroke at core body temperature, and this will trigger more cell death. (35) The effect of stimulating skin and tissue receptors in suppressing pain through the theory of gate control anchovies.…”
