Abstract:Objective: Disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI, formerly known as functional gastrointestinal disorders [FGIDs]) are highly prevalent in the pediatric population. DGBIs in youth are often associated with academic, physical, and psychosocial impairments. Assessment and treatment of DGBIs are best conceptualized using a biopsychosocial approach.
