Environmental problems such as climate change have brought to light the necessity of implementing more stringent environmental regulations and expanding the use of renewable energy sources in order to protect the environment and maintain a green ecosystem. As a result, this study aims to investigate the impact of China’s financial development and consumption of renewable energy on the country’s environmental quality from 2009 to 2019. Following the application of the ARDL method, this research begins by employing the NARDL (non-linear autoregressive distributive lag) model in order to analyze the asymmetry in the data that results from the presence of either positive or negative aspects of financial development. The results of the NARDL bound test indicate that the variables are long-term co-integrated. This enables the application of the ARDL methodology. The ARDL bound test findings show a positive relationship that exists over the long-term between financial development, trade openness, renewable energy consumption, economic growth, and CO2 emissions. In addition, the error correction model (ECM) provides evidence that there is, at least in the short run, a connection between CO2 emissions, financial development, economic growth, and energy consumption. Furthermore, according to a dynamic multiplier graph, the positive aspect of financial development has a greater influence on carbon emissions for a longer time than the shocks associated with a less favorable financial development. According to the findings, there does not appear to be any asymmetry between CO2 emissions and financial development, which supports the idea that both the positive and negative aspects of financial development have an equally significant impact.

The study ascertained the “E-Marketing Skills Required by Start-up Operators for Effective Management of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises” in Ebonyi State. One research question guided the study with one null hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance. A sample of 261 was selected from the population of 745 Start-up operators of small and medium scale enterprises using Yaro Yamane formula. Data was collected using 15 items structured questionnaire of four points scale. The instrument was validated by three experts from Ebonyi State University. The reliability index of the instrument was 0.80. Data collected from the research question was analyzed using mean and standard deviation while t-test statistics tested the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. Findings from this study revealed that e-marketing skills are highly required by start-up operators for effective management of small and medium scale enterprises in Ebonyi State and that gender influenced the views of the respondents. Based on the findings of the study it was concluded that e-marketing skills are highly required for effective management of small and medium scale enterprises to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage over other fierce rivalries in the market space. It is therefore recommended among others that training of SMEs managers on e-marketing skills for adequate utilization of the skills in business management be treated as critical strategy to close the gap between traditional marketing and digital marketing system.

The 21st century have seen the rise in the use of information and communication technology. This technology had overtime facilitated the growth of social media for ease of socializing and networking. Companies like Amazon, Alibaba among others leverage on e-commerce, integrating social media to provide product and services all over the world. In Nigeria, the likes of Jumia, Konga among others leverage on the social media space to market their product and services along with their website and mobile applications enabled by technology. With the huge number of people adopting the use of social media, it is critical to investigate how social media have impacted financial performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. With the use of ANOVA, Chi-square, the study analyzes responses from 566 respondents based on cleaned data obtained from Research ICT Africa Survey (RIAS) survey data published in 2019. Theoretically, the study is anchored on the social network theory. Evidence suggested that social media have contributed immensely to the growth of SMEs in Nigeria, helped in customer engagement and retention and also facilitate advertisement of goods and services. Evidence also suggested a significant relationship between social media advertisement and financial performance among SMEs in Nigeria.
