Insertion of Chalcogens and Bis(tert-butylisonitrile)palladium(0) into a Strained Ruthenium Half-sandwich Complex

Abstract: The previously synthesized strained distannadiyl-ansa half-sandwich complex [{κ 1 -SntBu 2 -SntBu 2 -(η 5 -C 5 H 5 )}Ru(CO) 2 ] was investigated with respect to its reactivity toward group 16 elements and bis(tert-butylisonitrile)palladium(0). All products were analyzed by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. [{κ 1 -SntBu 2 SSntBu 2 -(η 5 -C 5 H 5 )}Ru(CO) 2 ] was furthermore characterized by X-ray diffraction.

“…Moreover, we were successful in expanding this methodology to the synthesis of some di- and tristanna ansa half-sandwich complexes of tungsten, molybdenum, ruthenium, and nickel (Figure ) . Both the sandwich and the half-sandwich complexes show a facile activation of the Sn–Sn bond by Pt(0) complexes and elemental chalcogens. , …”
