“…5-Formyl-8-hydroxyquinoline ( 6) was prepared from 8-hydroxyquinoline and ethanol through the Reimer−Tiemann reaction. 5-Formyl-8-hydroxyquinoline and cyanoacetic acid through the Knoevenagel condensation reaction to give 2cyano-3-(8-hydroxyquinolin-5-yl)acrylic acid (7). Five metal complexes VBT-M (M = Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Hg) were obtained by coordination of ( 5) and ( 7) with different metals.…”

“…Research on dye sensitizers has continued in recent years and different types of dye sensitizers have been developed. The most important dye sensitizers which have been extensively studied are metal complex and pure organic compound dye sensitizers . Recently, research shows that the maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic dye sensitizers such as indole dye is up to 12.45% and that of triarylamine dye sensitizers reaches 15.2% through co-sensitizing. , The maximum PCE of metal complex dye sensitizers such as ruthenium complex dyes is 11.5%, osmium complex dye is 8.85%, Zn porphyrin dyes is 13%, and the Zn porphyrin dyes co-sensitized with organic dyes of thiophene-indole is 14.2% .…”

“…Therefore, the light-harvesting property of sensitizers is imperative, and the UV-Vis absorption spectrum is an elementary indicator of the photovoltaic performance of fabricated cells. 11,12 In general, the UV-Vis absorption of OSMs can be systematically and innumerably modulated by functional groups [13][14][15] and external environment. 16,17 In DSSCs, the dye sensitizers commonly comprise a donor-p spacer-acceptor (D-p-A) framework.…”

“…One of this research’s main aims is to meet the increasing global demand for energy consumption. , As a substitute for fossil fuels, nonfossil energy from clean sources is used. Examples of such sources include wind, water, biomass, geothermal, and solar energy because they are self-sufficient and less harmful to the ecosystem. Solar energy is one of the most promising nonfossil options for tackling energy challenges with a less detrimental impact on the ecology. , Solar cells are an efficient device to convert solar energy into electrical energy , to meet the rising demand for energy around the globe.…”
