Insights into the Design and Electrocatalytic Activity of Magnesium Aluminum Layered Double Hydroxides: Application to Nonenzymatic Catechol Sensor

Abstract: The design of an efficient electrocatalyst for effective trace level determinations of noxious synthetic and or biological compounds is the unceasingly noteworthy conceptual approach for rapid technology. In this work, we designed a magnesium-aluminum layered double hydroxides (Mg-Al LDHs) nanocatalyst and applied it to the electrocatalytic determination of an extremely carcinogenic catechol sensor. A coprecipitation method was employed for synthesizing the nanocatalyst, and the structure, porous nature, and m… Show more

“…4 Among many known electrochemical methods for the quantification of CT and HQ, the use of biosensors for this purpose seems particularly interesting. 10,11 Biosensors are devices that integrate a biological or biologically derived element with an electronic element to produce a measurable analytical signal. 2 In the biosensor construction dedicated to the simultaneous CT and HQ determination, the enzyme laccase is very often used.…”

“…Among them, electrochemical methods have great attention in recent years towards biomolecules detection owing to their catalytic activity, cost-effectiveness, good sensitivity and excellent selectivity, stability, reproducibility etc. [3][4][5][6][7][8] Generally, unmodified electrodes have poor electrocatalytic performance, sensitivity and selectivity as compared to nanomaterials modified electrodes. 6,9,10 In this regard, many transition-metal oxides (TMOs) were utilized as electrode modifiers and anode materials for various electrochemical applications.…”
