Institutional investor attitudes to technology-enhanced university vertical campuses in the digital era

Abstract: Universities internationally have recently increased their campuses to attract a broader coverage of students in a very competitive university education market (e.g. international students). “…For example, I have done several exciting research projects in recent years that clearly could not be effectively addressed from within the standard finance paradigm. These involved assessing the significance of property in Asian pension fund portfolios (Newell, 2010), property investment decision-making by Australian pension funds (Hutcheson and Newell, 2018), attitudes of institutional investors to technology-enhanced university vertical campuses (Newell et al , 2019) and issues regarding improved Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) benchmarking in property investment (Newell et al , 2023b). Each of these projects involved in-depth stakeholder interviews with leading pension funds and property fund managers (often globally) to obtain strategic insights into their decision-making around these critically important issues for the property industry.…”
