“…Wilkinson et al (1978) compared maize silage with DM contents of 198, 267 and 346 g kg )1 and found that OM digestibility was reduced when the most mature silage was fed. A comparison between maize silage containing 250 and 350 g DM kg )1 fed to steers with 0AE45 kg soya bean meal also found that DM digestibility was lower for the high DM content silage (Goering et al, 1969). In an experiment that compared four stages of maize maturity with DM contents ranging from 240 to 390 g kg )1 , no significant differences between silage DM digestibility were found (Colovos et al, 1970) although OM digestibility was not reported.…”
