Integrated Collections: Approach to Software Component Reuse

Abstract: Software reuse has yet to offer well-defined methodologies and mature technologies for developing applications with reuse. Implementing a successful reuse initiative to realize the perceived benefits of reuse requires initial investment that makes the cost of reuse prohibitive for many organizations. The most common form of reusable assets is source code. In some estimates, domainspecific components represent up to 65% of the application size. One approach to effective reuse practices focus on domain-specific … Show more

“…Haddad [18] is of the view that software organizat ions have to invest huge sums of money to start successful reuse methodology and it's a barrier for them. Haddad believes that core of reuse is source code and proposed an integrated approach for component-based development to support domain specific co mponents.…”

“…The objective of this research is to develop benchmarks for software organizations so that these begin reuse practices by emphasizing main ly on programming effort and not on management and operational issues. Focus is development of domain specific reusable components and not construction of reusable components of different domains of concern [18] . This problem can be handled through software engineering for adaptive and self-managing systems.…”

“…Em S18 (HADDAD, 2006), foi proposto uma abordagem que define coleções de componentes reusáveis que estão integrados no ambiente de desenvolvimento. O conceito de interface genérica também é utilizado para definir um mecanismo de interface padrão e controlar a interface das coleções reusáveis no domínio de interesse.…”
