Integrated DC/DC Converter Topology Study for Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles with Two Energy Sources

Abstract: Conventional hybrid vehicles with two energy sources require two separate on-board DC/DC converters to connect the battery and the fuel cell, which have the disadvantages of large size, high cost, high losses and few applicable operating conditions. To address this situation, this paper proposes an optimized on-board integrated DC/DC converter with a non-isolated multi-port scheme that integrates a unidirectional port for the fuel cell and a bidirectional port for the battery and load. This can achieve a combi… Show more

“…If it is assumed that the diodes, the MOSFETs, and the inductors present the same resistance, the Equation ( 30) is obtained. On the other hand, the Equation (31) shows the conduction losses in the Cuk converter. In all the elements of the sum, except the one that represents the losses due to the current i 2 when the MOSFETs are off, the Sheppard-Taylor equation presents more elements.…”

“…The optimization of the photovoltaic charging system utilizing the soft computing approaches has a number of difficulties, despite the fact that these methods are successful in themselves. For instance, the fuzzy logic controller is simply appropriate for use in a system that has a limited number of charging outlets and electric vehicles that need to be charged [138]. The rule table will get more complex as well as the algorithm will take longer time to execute if there are a large number of energy sources and EVs.…”

“…For high performance, full-bridge phase shift transformers (PSFB) are widely utilized in medium-strength applications. Due to its straightforward design, switches operate with gentle switching without the need for additional components [9][10][11][12]. Even so, the full-scale input conversion unit with the phase-shift control mechanism is inappropriate for use with fluctuating input voltage due to some significant flaws in its monitoring system, including a small number of ZVS sets of lagging leg switches, a failure of the duty cycle, a significant failure of the current, and voltage variations around the output diode.…”
